So my best friend from college arrived in Japan last Wednesday. It just so happened that that was the same day I got back from a week in Hong Kong. Perfect timing. I had been planning this ttip for a while. It started with a 4 day "b kyu" gourmet tour. Japanese-English for cheap gourmet. We ate the best yakitori, kushiage, sushi, and of coure ramen in town. We also checked out Kamakura's temples before heading to Yokohama to hang out with some locals at a beer bar there.
Then came the travelling. We hit up Kusatsu, Japan's #1 ranked onsen. After that we went south to Ise, a lesser known but for certain great part of Japan. Culture and the best seafood meal my friend had ever eatern. The next stop was to Koya-san, the holiest of mountains, where we stayed at a temple, eating gourmet vegetarian buddhist food and joining in the morning prayer.
Our last weekend was spent skiing in Niigata and drinking under the cheery blossoms in Tokyo. Like I said, an epic vatation...
Is what I would have liked to write about. Instead, a massive earthquake hit Japan a day after I flew to Hong Kong, then all hell broke loose and I decided to stay in Hong Kong... for I don't know how long.
That's my way fo saying that I am safe. I missed it all, and will stay away until things settle down. That's all. My story regarding the quake is pretty boring. Thanks for the conecern. I will have a lot to say about Hong Kong in the near future.
Good to know you're safe and well mate. Take care.
ReplyDeleteNice vacation! Glad you're safe though, enjoy Hong Kong!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear you're safe! Have a good time in Hong Kong!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had a friend coming to town too. We were gonna hit up Kusatsu that weekend too... Oh well. Luckily Gunma is pretty unaffected, just epic lines for gas.
